CardFlight looks to be competing in two fast-growing markets.
The first is mPOS, where firms like Square already supply thousands of traders with a card-reading dongle that turns phones into payment tills.
It’s also going after the in-app card payments space in which Stripe, Braintree, judo and others are flourishing.
Thus, CardFlight provides its customers with card readers, but also gives them an SDK to build payment processing into their own branded apps.
CardFlight’s SDKs support iOS and Android platforms, and connects to 23 different payment processors. They also feed back all the expected reporting and analytics around orders, invoicing etc.
The firm claims to have hundreds of app developers signed up, but lists Learnvest, Event Farm and Handshake on its site.
It’s just bagged $1.6m in funding led by ff Venture Capital.
